Here are my top County Kerry travel tips so you don't miss any of these spectacular highlights on your Irland tour. We have visited all of these places many times before and probably will visit them again because they are so magnificent!
A Trip To The Skellig Islands
This is undoubtedly the absolute highlight. A tour not to be missed in my opinion. A boat trip to the Skelligs is a unique experience that couples a nature adventure with the fascinating Irish history. Climb the ancient steps built by monks up to the historic monastic settlement on a rocky small island in the middle of the Atlantic. I don't think there is a place alike in this world!
Killarney is the starting point of all trips around the Ring Of Kerry. This picturesque Irish town ticks all the boxes. Irish pubs and restaurants, shopping, the National park with beautiful lakes, the historic Muckross House, luxury hotels, golf course and lots more.
Valentia Island is a place full of history and wild natural beauty. The first transatlantic cable that connected Europe and America landed in Valentia. This is a great place to explore on foot or by bike.
Derrynane beach is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places in Ireland. This is a great beach for watersports, horse riding, walking or just enjoying the beautiful Atlantic scenery. Derrynane House was the home of Daniel O'Connell, an important figure of Irish history. The house and garden are open to the public. Come back into the village of Caherdaniel after your visit to the beach and enjoy some original Irish pubs.
The Gap of Dunloe near Killarney is a stunning valley in the Kerry mountains. Combine this with a boat trip across the Killarney lakes and you will have a spectacular Kerry travel trip you will never forget!
Kenmare is a colorful Irish town on the Ring Of Kerry. Enjoy the Irish flair with authentic pubs, cafes, small shops, Irish arts and crafts and some good restaurants.
Dingle And The Dingle Peninsula
Dingle has a lot to offer for your Kerry visit. You can see Fungi the Dolphin that lives in Dingle harbour and loves to swim beside the boats. It has to be seen to be believed! A visit to the Oceanworld Aquarium gives great insights to marine life for adults and children alike. Discover the rugged beauty of this peninsula by bike or on foot.
